I was referred to Dr. MacCallum in February 2017. I was very nervous about trying cannabis. I have a few serious medical conditions on top of chronic pain. After sitting with her for five minutes I knew she was the right doctor for me. She is so compassionate, caring and understanding. I have never felt more cared for and understood by a doctor before. And trust me I have seen a lot. A few months later I struggled tapering my opioids and experienced withdrawal side effects. When things got a bit complicated and out of control Dr MacCallum was there, to help guide the opioid taper using cannabis to manage the withdrawl symptoms. Her calming nature and vast knowledge of my health issues and cannabis helped get me through. That day I was crying and very upset. She took the time to calm and comfort me. Reassuring me that we will get through this together. I don't think I could ever thank her enough for all the support she's shown me. I would highly recommend her. I've met many doctors, but I've never met one who truly cares about her patients the way Dr. MacCallum does! - S.W
After years of struggling with pain, I was fortunate enough to end up in Dr MacCallum's office. She was kind and confident, inspiring confidence in me that my chronic pain could be helped. She carefully, consistently monitored and followed up with me, making adjustments on the fly to improve the effectiveness of the treatments. She was available, interested and involved. She stayed creative in seeking every avenue that might assist me, and with her help and guidance, not only do I feel more in control of my health and pain management, but for the first time in a decade I have been able to take control of my life and my future. My quality of life has improved dramatically because of Dr MacCallum , and I would (and do) recommend her to anyone who is fighting pain. -A.N
My life has changed remarkably for the better since I met Dr. MacCallum. I had been off and on using opioids for severe neck pain for at least a year and would have ended my life had I not been a mother. My life was intolerable. Dr. X tried various medications and either they were just as horrible (fentanyl) or not practical (baby bottles of lidocaine attached to the belly). Dr. MacCallum switched me to methadone, which was a huge improvement. The opioids had many side effects. Cannabis has made all the difference in the world. I sleep better, I am more clear-minded, I have less nausea. Finally, I was able to taper off methadone using cannabis. If Dr. M and I were friends, likely I would love her. But instead she is my brilliant and caring physician whose praises I sing to my other doctors, my family and my friends and I am grateful to be her patient. - A.S.
Dr. Caroline MacCallum has been treating me now for a couple of years. I could not ask for a better doctor. Dr. MacCallum is not my family doctor, however she is so helpful, I feel as though she could be! With regards to efficacy of treatments, listening, and demeanor she gets top marks. Furthermore, she conveys a tone of sincere caring. From 2005 after my motor vehicle accident until I met Dr. MacCallum my pain only got slowly worse and I was not able to work. Improvement for me came with the combination of her recommended perscription/cannabis changes and a dedicated food / exercise / mental regimen. With this new regimen my pain went from only able to take baby steps, to working two days a week. I am still being followed by Dr. M for Yoga, pool exercise and group CBT classes. I have gained back healthy weight so I am now 185 (instead of 150 when I met Dr. MacCallum). Dr. MacCallum gets an A from myself and I have heard similar things from her other patients too. - B.C

Dr MacCallum has always treated me with the utmost professionalism , she is extremely detailed, knowledgable and always friendly and gives me excellent unbiased advice on how to get better and or offer new / alternative treatment options. Without question I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. MacCallum, and I'm very proud to have her on my team. Thanks Dr MacCallum for all your help and hard work! Doctors really do make a difference in this world and you've made a difference in mine. -E.R
Three years ago I was extremely fortunate to meet Dr. Caroline MacCallum at a pain clinic in Vancouver, BC. After being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2002 I navigated my way through our medical system to find a doctor who understood Fibromyalgia and chronic pain. Many doctors had little or no knowledge surrounding the disease Fibromyalgia. I was given pain medications, or told my diagnosis was wrong & then sent on my way. Dr. MacCallum was different, she had not only a knowledge of Fibromyalgia but also had an interest in treating it. Dr.MacCallum always makes you feel like you are her "only patient." She listened to my concerns and always suggested something new to try to alleviate my pain and fatigue. I was pleased that she had me try various new medications that were suppose to help Fibromyalgia. When they gave little or no relief she would suggest other non medicinal options to try in hopes of making my daily life more normal. I had the benefit of attending many of her group sessions. They shared ways to help with chronic pain. Dr.MacCallum is passionate about cannabis and is involved in research to highlight the benefits of medical cannabis in dealing with Fibromyalgia, debilitating chronic pain and fatigue. Using medical marijuana to help me with my everyday pain has made a huge difference in my quality of life. Thank you Dr. MacCallum for continuing to encourage and support me in my journey with Fibromyalgia (a life long illness). My days are so much better thanks to Dr. MacCallum. My only wish is that everyone could have a "Dr. MacCallum." - P.J
*Dr. M really understands pain and putting her medical knowledge together with medicinal cannabis makes sense. She has been extremely helpful thinking outside the box to manage my needs and is always looks at what I can or cannot manage. I find that she has a no-nonsense attitude towards any reservations I may have and works with my needs while giving me options. This helps to keep me in control of something in my life! *Thanks Dr. M.* - L.E.

I’m over the moon since I’ve been taking gabapentin you prescribe for my insomnia. I’ve been sleep deprived for almost 20 years. I keep pinching myself and hoping its actually happening. I’ve had a solid night sleep every night since beginning these pills. I’m so grateful – I know I was initially resistant because of my previous history with other pills. I will always be thankful to you. - I.B
Thank you thank you thank you. You are a magician. Truly it was the very best of luck to have met you in the urgent care. Your dedicated efforts got me back home within 2 weeks and active. - M.B
